Dreamers & Doers
A collection of inspirational stories, life changing moments and acts of kindness.
By 53 authors from around the world who have climbed Mount Kilimanjaro.
At 5,895 meters (19,341 feet), Mt. Kilimanjaro is the tallest peak in Africa and the highest freestanding mountain in the world. Situated in northern Tanzania, Kilimanjaro is also surrounded by the ancestral lands of the Maasai people, who have struggled to keep their semi-nomadic lifestyle intact in the wake of rapid modernization and whose girls and women remain largely uneducated as a result of this economic difficulty and marginalization. There are many rural villages where schools lack running water, electricity, and adequate classroom supplies for students. In Tanzania, more than 400,000 children have no access to proper education, and 70% of them are girls.
The Dreamers & Doers Charity Book Project aims to further the mission of cross-cultural goodwill and inspiration by donating textbooks to these northern Tanzanian schools as a “thank you” from the women who have been inspired, motivated, and challenged by Kilimanjaro and its spectacular surrounding region.
For every copy of Dreamers & Doers sold, a textbook will be donated to Tanzanian schools, through the work of the Impatiens Kilimanjari Foundation. The goal is to raise €35,000 to cover the cost of providing textbooks to four schools (a total of 12,000 textbooks) and the tuition fees for ten Maasai girls.
